Overview

The feeder is the heart of chicken leveling: it grows corn, your active chicken eats that corn to gain levels, and upgrades make the whole process faster — including while you are offline.

Feeder Mechanics on Video

A quick walkthrough showing the feeder building, the upgrade cost, and the corn-per-second increase in real time. This is the exact mechanic the guide below explains.

How the Feeder Works

The feeder grows corn on a timer. Your active chicken walks over and eats automatically, converting corn into levels. Upgrade the feeder and it grows corn faster — from a trickle of corn per couple of seconds to multiple per second at higher levels.

Because feeding is automatic, the feeder turns idle time into progress. An upgraded feeder effectively levels your fighter while you collect scrap, fight, or sleep.

Feeding Your Chickens

Feeding is almost entirely automatic, but there are three things you control. Nail these and your fighter's level curve will be smooth.

The system punishes one thing: leaving your strongest chicken undeployed.

1

Deploy your active fighter

Only the deployed active chicken eats automatically — keep your strongest one deployed at all times.

2

Upgrade the feeder

Each upgrade raises corn per second, which raises the leveling rate.

3

Buy more feeders

Extra feeders let more chickens eat at once — useful for leveling a bench.

4

Upgrade feeders evenly

Corn per feeder stays roughly even as they scale, so spreading upgrades wins.

5

Log off active

Leave your best chicken deployed with a leveled feeder for offline gains.

💡 The feeder is the single best offline system in the game — always log off with your strongest chicken eating.

Feeder Upgrade Math

Upgrades raise corn per second, and the numbers roughly double as you invest. The pattern below holds across most of the game.

LevelCorn RateCost Trend
BaseLow corn per secondCheap
MidMultiple per secondGrowing
HighFast flowExpensive
MaxNear-continuousEndgame cost
⚠️ Feeder upgrade costs scale quickly — prioritize it when your chicken is the bottleneck, not when coins are.

What Feeder Levels Unlock

The feeder's value grows with every level in four ways. Each one compounds with the others.

That is why experienced players treat the feeder as a top-tier early investment.

Faster Leveling

More corn per second means more levels per hour.

Stronger Fights

Levels raise attack and health, winning more Tower floors.

Offline Progress

An upgraded feeder levels your fighter while you are away.

Multi-Chicken Training

Multiple feeders train a bench for fusion and swaps.

💡 If your chicken is too weak for Tower fights, the fix is almost always a feeder upgrade — not a new chicken.

Feeder Mistakes

The feeder is forgiving, but these habits leave levels on the table. Fix them and your progression speeds up noticeably.

The theme: keep the corn flowing and the chicken eating.

  • Logging off with no chicken deployed
  • Maxing one feeder instead of upgrading evenly
  • Buying feeders you never use
  • Spending coins on random upgrades when the feeder is behind
  • Ignoring the feeder after rebirth — rebuild it first

The Feeder and the Bigger Loop

The feeder sits between money and fights: recycler coins fund feeder upgrades, feeder levels power Tower pushes, and Tower coins fund the next feeder level. Every system in the game touches this one.

When progression stalls, ask which side of the feeder is slow — coins or levels — and fix that side. Our money guide covers the coin side of the equation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I feed chickens in Grow a Chicken Fighter?

Deploy your active chicken and upgrade the feeder — it grows corn automatically and your chicken eats it for levels.

What does upgrading the feeder do?

It raises corn per second, which speeds up leveling. Higher feeders also support multiple eating chickens.

Does the feeder work offline?

Yes — an upgraded feeder keeps leveling your active chicken while you are away, making it the best offline system in the game.

Should I buy multiple feeders?

Yes if you want to level a bench, but upgrade feeders evenly — corn per feeder stays roughly even as they scale.

Why is my chicken weak in the Tower?

It is probably underleveled. Upgrade the feeder and let your fighter eat before pushing floors again.

What should I upgrade first, feeder or recycler?

Whichever is the bottleneck — the recycler when coins are slow, the feeder when fights are slow.

Does the feeder help after rebirth?

Yes, and rebuilding it first after a rebirth is the fastest way back to full speed.

Can I feed more than one chicken at once?

Multiple feeders let more chickens eat at the same time, which is useful for training fusion material.
